Biomechanics of the Lower Body
What can we do when the simple act of walking, jogging or running goes wrong? Should we wait until our clients experience pain or problems before we intervene and what are our treatment options when gait goes awry?
This course will cover
- The role and function of fascia.
- Key myofascial and anatomical links through the body.
- Explain the sequence of essential events required for ideal walking technique.
- Key components of a biomechanical assessment including the biomechanics of the feet.
- Examine some common movement errors and injuries.
- Outline treatment of common injuries.
- Incorporate the role of core stability in management and prevention.
- Apply theory of myofascial chains into a selection of exercises to manage and prevent injury (strengthening, flexibility, motor control and coordination).
- Discuss contribution of footwear and the indications for orthotic correction.
The concepts covered are based on the arts and science of Anatomy Trains, Biomechanics and Core Stability.
